Corner Pocket formed in mid 2000 as a four-piece playing a few punk and ska covers. Around October we decided to try and start writing our own songs and at this time we added Brendan (Saxophone).

During the first few months we had a bit of rough luck with singers. Our first singer didn't really have quite what it takes so we assigned Mick to take over vocal duties as well as rhythm guitar.

We then added an English lass by the name of Sam who had no clue about anything (and still doesn't!) to beef up our brass section on trumpet.

We played our first show in March 2001 to a great response and slowly started getting a few more shows around this fine city of Perth.

Around April things weren't quite working out with Mick and he parted ways with the band. Dans' school pal Claire was more than keen to give Corner Pocket a go and brought with her years of singing experience adding a slightly more poppier sound.

Oh yeah, sometime during all this hustle and bustle some drunk was rambling to us at a show and we felt sorry for him so we decided to let him play trumpet with us.

We had now developed our own unique sound with influences from not only ska and punk bands but also from reggae, swing, hardcore and jazz.

As 2002 begins Corner Pocket are charging full steam ahead playing a tight blend of ska and pop punk with powerful female vocals and a punchy horn section to boot!
